I know you have probably seen the results from Election Day here in Cook County. Like many of you, I was very disappointed.
I want to thank you for taking time and time again to read about our campaign. I also want to sincerely thank you for all of your efforts on our behalf.
We all worked very hard and I know we brought some very important issues to the fore, such as Iraq, the environment, the direction of our national energy policy, choice, immigration and the economy. I'm disappointed that the numbers didn't break our way last night.
I hope you can take heart in the fact that our campaign gave voice to people in our district who have been ignored. You should all be very proud of that.
So, once again: Thank you. I wish you all the very best.
